Richard “Ricky” Sanchez is a favorite in the dysFUNKsion mix. Since coming to the U.S. in 1989, he’s played with a number of Seattle-area bands, such as No Limit and Sonic Funk. Following in the footsteps of his father, Rey Sanchez, a legendary guitar player in the Philippines, Ricky picked up the guitar at the age of twelve. Within a few years, Ricky knew that music was his calling. While still in his first year of college, Ricky was one of the most sought-after lead guitarists in the Philippines. He began touring with such bands as the Soul Skill Band, Saviors Band and Soul Revival, before catching the attention of one of the most famous show bands in the Philippines, Musikenesis. With them he traveled to Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, thrilling audiences with his eclectic brand of rhythm, funk and soul guitar. He’s currently thrilling his fellow band mates with his command of Tommy Cochrane & Santana.
